Sherb Cake
Also known as: Sherbet Cake, Sunset Sherbet Cake
Breeder: Seed Junky Genetics (JBeezy / Anthony Hart)
An indica-dominant hybrid from Seed Junky Genetics combining the sweet citrus terpene profile of Sunset Sherbet with the exceptional resin density and doughy vanilla of Wedding Cake. Produces dense, trichome-covered buds with purple/violet coloration and a distinctive sherbet-infused pound cake aroma. Has become a dispensary staple across multiple states and serves as the parent of Pablo's Revenge (Animal Mints x Sherb Cake). In circulation since at least mid-2019.
Lineage & Genetics
Cross: Sunset Sherbet (BX1) x Wedding Cake
Sunset Sherbet (Girl Scout Cookies x Pink Panties, bred by Mr. Sherbinski/Cookie Fam) is an indica-dominant hybrid contributing sweet citrus terpene profile, bushy/robust physical structure, purple coloration genetics, and sherbet candy aroma. Wedding Cake (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints / Triangle Mints #23, Seed Junky Genetics, pheno-hunted by Jungle Boys) is an indica-dominant hybrid contributing exceptional resin density, doughy vanilla terpenes, enhanced potency, tight internode spacing, and high calyx-to-leaf ratio.
Terpene Profile
Beta-Caryophyllene — Spicy, peppery, woody; 0.4-0.9%
Limonene — Citrus, lemon, orange; 0.3-1.2%
Linalool — Floral, lavender; 0.1-0.6%
Myrcene — Earthy, musky, herbal; 0.2-0.5%
Humulene — Resinous, woody, herbal; 0.1-0.3%
Aroma: Sherbet candy and bright lemon-orange citrus on first grind, followed by floral lavender softness and a peppery/gassy tickle. Sweet cream and vanilla dough undertones with dark berry accents. Volatile monoterpenes bloom rapidly when ground.
Flavor: Smooth inhale with vanilla frosting sweetness on exhale. Sugary sherbet-cream over a base of mint and pine. Subtle gas/fuel backend. Described as sherbet-infused pound cake. Proper curing enhances the dessert-forward profile.
Effects & Experience

Growing Characteristics
Grow Tips: Botrytis (bud rot) is the #1 risk due to extremely dense flower structure. Prevention protocol: maintain RH below 45-50% in late flower (below 45% final 3 weeks), airflow at 0.5-1.0 m/s across canopy at all times with oscillating fans above AND below canopy, defoliate to prevent moisture pockets between dense colas, monitor lights-off humidity spikes (temperature drops of 10°F at lights-off can push RH to dangerous levels). Top once at the 5th node to break apical dominance and develop uniform canopy. LST early in veg — the strain responds very well. SCROG or double-trellis recommended to keep colas uniform and reduce popcorn. Defoliation schedule: light defoliation in late veg, selective defoliation at Day 21 of flower, second defoliation at Day 42 of flower — do not strip aggressively, just open airflow paths. Goal is even canopy with uniform cola heights. Moderate-to-heavy feeder — start at 50% manufacturer's recommendation and scale based on plant response. Taper nitrogen early in flowering to avoid leaf curl. EC targets (coco/hydro): seedling 0.4-0.6, veg 1.2-1.6, early-mid flower 1.6-2.2, late flower/flush 0.4-0.8. Aim for 10-20% runoff in coco to prevent salt buildup. Sunset Sherbet lineage may show magnesium deficiency under intense LEDs — supplement CalMag proactively in coco/hydro. PPFD targets: veg 400-600, flower ramp to 800-1050 by week 3, with CO2 push to 1100-1200, without CO2 cap at 900-1000. Harvest when trichomes show 10-15% amber, 70-80% cloudy for maximum dessert aroma. For heavier body/sedative push to 20%+ amber at day 65-68 but this mutes citrus notes. Flush with plain water final 10 days as trichomes transition. Dry at 60-70°F, 55-65% RH for 10-14 days in darkness. The dessert terpene profile develops substantially during proper 2-4 week cure. Phenotype variation: Sherbet-leaning phenos show brighter citrus, more purple, slightly longer stretch. Cake-leaning phenos show denser structure, more vanilla/dough, potentially 9-10 week flowering. Purple hues are common but temperature-dependent (cool nights trigger anthocyanin).
History & Origin
Developed in the late 2010s when Seed Junky Genetics crossed their Sunset Sherbet BX1 with Wedding Cake. In circulation since at least September 2019 (West Coast Weed Reviews published a review of Sherb Cake from Indoor Organic Gardens at that time). The strain proliferated through clone distribution and became a dispensary staple across Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, California, and Oklahoma. Heritage Seed Bank listed feminized seeds (Sunset Sherbert x Wedding Cake) in limited packs of 10 (now sold out).
