Dial in your temperature and humidity for maximum growth
VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) is the difference between the amount of moisture in the air and the maximum amount of moisture the air can hold at that temperature. It's the single most important environmental metric for cannabis growing — more useful than temperature or humidity alone.
| Stage | VPD (kPa) | Temp (°F) | Humidity (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clone/seedling | 0.4-0.8 | 72-78°F | 70-80% |
| Early veg | 0.8-1.0 | 75-80°F | 60-70% |
| Late veg | 1.0-1.2 | 78-82°F | 55-65% |
| Early flower | 1.0-1.3 | 75-80°F | 50-60% |
| Late flower | 1.2-1.5 | 72-78°F | 40-50% |
Don't chase exact VPD numbers — think in ranges. As your plants move from veg to flower, gradually lower humidity and temperature. Monitor leaf surface temperature if possible — it's typically 3-5°F cooler than air temp. For more growing guides: Nutrients | Watering | Training
