Cross: Blue Dream x Granddaddy Purple

Blue Dream (Blueberry x Super Silver Haze) contributes vigorous growth, elongated colas, cerebral uplift, and a myrcene/pinene terpene base. Granddaddy Purple (Purple Urkle x Big Bud) contributes anthocyanin expression, dense calyx stacking, grape-candy aroma with linalool dominance, and deep body relaxation.

Terpene Profile

Aroma: Strong sour grape and berry nose with piney undertones and sweet fruity accents. Breaking buds releases a second wave of floral and overripe grape notes. Room-filling intensity.

Flavor: Berry-forward inhale driven by myrcene, with sweet grape and pine on the palate. Exhale brings more sweetness with a smooth, lingering finish. Some phenotypes express musty, earthy undertones from the GDP side.

Onset: Begins with a cerebral rush — mental stimulation, mood elevation, and a creative spark within minutes.

Cerebral euphoria and focus give way to a gradual body relaxation that creeps in without heavy sedation. Maintains functional clarity while providing gentle physical relief. Some describe it as dreamy and tingly.

Growing Characteristics

Grow Tips: Bushy pyramidal structure with side branches nearly as long as the main stem — ideal for SCROG. Apply LST early to expose lower bud sites; the branchy architecture responds extremely well. Drop nighttime temps by 10°F (to ~60–65°F) in final 2–3 weeks to trigger anthocyanin expression. Living soil or organic-rich medium recommended for full terpene complexity. Defoliate moderately during stretch to improve airflow through dense branching. Flush with plain water or mild molasses solution for final 2 weeks to enhance flavor. Dry at 60–65°F and 50–55% RH for ~10 days to preserve monoterpenes. UVB supplementation in final 2–3 weeks increases trichome density. Phenotype variation exists — not all plants will express purple strongly; select purple-expressing cuts for clone runs.

History & Origin

Created by Ken Estes of Grand Daddy Purp in California as part of his line of purple medical strains. Was clone-only for an extended period before Grand Daddy Genetics released regular seeds through retailers like Amsterdam Seed Center and Cannapot. Designed specifically as a functional medical hybrid that could treat pain without the couch-lock of pure indicas like GDP itself.
