Kushberries (Kushberry × Chocolate Covered Strawberries): Soloud's proprietary cross. Kushberry (Blueberry × OG Kush) provided classic OG bud formation with lemon-candy and blueberry undertones. Chocolate Covered Strawberries contributed extraordinary strawberry terpenes — some phenos leaning artificial strawberry, others fresh-cut. The resulting Kushberries selection displayed bushy structure and sweet strawberry-forward terps. White Runtz: a trichome-heavy phenotype of Runtz (Zkittlez × Gelato) known for its frosty white appearance, candy-gas aroma, and potent effects. Soloud used a White Runtz reversal (feminized pollen) as the male parent.

History & Origin

Soloud Genetics created the primary catalogued version by crossing their Kushberries line to a White Runtz reversal. The breeder selected Kushberry (Blueberry × OG Kush) for its classic OG flavor with lemon-candy and blueberry undertones, then crossed it with Chocolate Covered Strawberries for its extraordinary strawberry terpenes. The resulting Kushberries selection was mated to White Runtz to add the Runtz family's trichome density and candy-gas appeal. In parallel, 808 Genetics released their own Strawberry Runtz in 2021 as a collaboration with Raw Genetics, using Runtz (mother) × Strawberries and Cream F2 (from Exotic Genetix Mike), grown and selected sun-ripened in Hawaii. The name 'Strawberry Runtz' has since become a catch-all for any Runtz cross with strawberry-forward parentage, making breeder provenance critical when sourcing genetics.
