Grow Tips: Oreoz is a MODERATE feeder — does NOT need heavy feeding. Veg EC target 0.8-1.6 mS/cm, peak flower EC max ~2.2 (do not exceed). Start at 50-70% recommended feed chart strength and increase based on plant response. Monitor for tip burn and back off 10% at first sign. Silica supplementation during veg strengthens cell walls to support dense bud structures. Week-by-week flower progression: Weeks 1-3 controlled stretch usually doubling in height, focus on final training and flat canopy, transition to bloom feed. Weeks 4-6 dense bracts cluster aggressively, silver resin starts coating sugar leaves, steady nutrients and moderate watering. Weeks 7-9 flowers reach maximum density, reduce humidity aggressively below 45%, lower nighttime temps to trigger dark purple/black pigmentation via anthocyanin production, trichomes transition clear to milky to early amber. Multi-top during veg with multiple top sites. LST to develop lateral spread and even canopy. SCROG highly recommended — install trellis before flipping, fill net evenly during early flower stretch. HARVEST: Mostly cloudy + 10-20% amber for balanced high with sedative finish. 20-30% amber for maximum sedative power. Do NOT rush — final 2 weeks produce majority of resin and the color shift; cutting early sacrifices both bag appeal and potency. Typical 56-65 days from flip. DRYING: Hang dry whole plant in dark climate-controlled room at 60F and 60% RH for a slow 14-day dry. A patient slow dry is CRITICAL — the chocolate and gas terpenes are volatile and will be destroyed by fast drying. Drying too fast produces grassy, hay-like smell that permanently replaces the dessert profile. CURING: Jar in airtight containers at 58-62% RH with humidity packs, minimum 2-3 weeks cure, chocolate and marshmallow notes deepen significantly during cure, burp daily first week then every 2-3 days, extended cure 4-8 weeks rewarded as flavor complexity continues developing. Common mistakes: humidity too high in late flower leading to invisible interior bud rot, harvesting too early sacrificing color shift and final resin push, fast drying destroying terpene profile, overfeeding past EC 2.2, insufficient defoliation leading to mold and uneven ripening, no airflow planning with oscillating fans non-negotiable, skipping cold nighttime finish missing the near-black coloring from anthocyanin production.

History & Origin

3rd Coast Genetics was founded around 2005 by MaxYields on the shores of Lake Michigan, Michigan. Oreoz was created in the late 2010s by crossing their Cookies and Cream cut with Secret Weapon and rapidly gained traction through social media. By 2020-2021 it exploded in popularity driven by Instagram and dispensary bag appeal with the near-black buds and silver trichome coatings becoming one of the most photographed cannabis aesthetics of the era. In October 2021, Oreoz won 1st Place Hybrid Flower at the High Times Cannabis Cup People's Choice Oklahoma. In 2022 it was runner-up for Leafly Strain of the Year. In 2023-2024, Mondelez International issued cease-and-desist letters and 3rd Coast Genetics officially rebranded the strain to Oooze, though it continues to be widely sold as Oreoz.
