Because this plant only ever existed as a breeding node, its character has to be read through its two clone-only parents. Sour Dubb — also called Sour Dubble or SDubb — traces to about 2008, when B.O.G. of B.O.G. Seeds gifted four seeds of East Coast Sour Diesel x Sour Bubble to a friend at an outdoor festival in Northern California; the cultivator Greyskull germinated two, kept an exceptional female and named the cut. Sour Bubble itself is B.O.G.'s Bubble Gum inbred line. Breeder Meangene of Freeborn Selections has observed that Sour Dubb breeds more like a heavy Afghan than a Sour Diesel, with tight internodes, thick lateral branches and chunky golf-ball-to-spear flower formations, plus a faint benign leaf variegation. Its nose is deep diesel, tart sour citrus, pink bubblegum, damp earth and burnt rubber, and it is reported at 20% to 26% THC with very high gland density. Chem's Sister — Chem Sis, Chemdawg A — was selected in 1991 by Greg Krzanowski, 'Chemdog'. High Times' '25 Years of Chem Dog' and ICMag's Chem family thread describe him buying an ounce of Dogbud for $500 from P-Bud and Joe Brand at a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheater in Noblesville, Indiana in June 1991; later mail-ordered ounces yielded 13 bagseeds, of which he germinated four in 1991, discarding one male and labeling the three females Chem Dog (now Chem '91), Chem Dog A (which became Chem's Sister) and Chem Dog B. The underlying heritage of the Dogbud bagseed is unknown. Chem's Sister is sativa-dominant in morphology, with floppy lanky branches, wide internodes and an aggressive flowering stretch that demands staking and trellising, a nose of acrid skunk, petroleum, solvent, lemon zest, pine and sweet sandalwood, a reported 18% to 24% THC, a more cerebral and energizing effect than Chem '91 or Chem D, and the well-documented tendency to throw nanners under thermal or environmental swings that started this whole story. The full-page research estimates the cross's genetic heritage at roughly 60% indica to 40% sativa, but no ratio was ever published for the plant itself, so the field here is left unpublished. In practice, the traits the pairing was expected to carry are Sour Dubb's dense calyx clustering, sweet-sour bubblegum undertone, sticky resin heads and physical weight, alongside Chem's Sister's trichome coverage, kerosene and solvent top notes, vigorous branching, abundant bud sites and cerebral lift.

Terpene Profile

Aroma: No one ever described the smell of a cured, standalone Sour Dubb x Chem's Sister, so the profile below is reconstructed from the two parent cuts and the progeny. On the whole bud it is loud and penetrating: pungent industrial diesel, sour citrus fuel and acrid skunky solvent, with a sweet tart bubblegum note underneath from the Sour Bubble ancestry. Ground or broken open, the dense resin heads rupture into sharp kerosene, lemon-lime cleaner, damp pine needles and peppery chemical funk.

Flavor: Also parent-derived rather than tasted and recorded. The inhale is thick and rich with intense fuel-and-sour astringency, coating the palate with sour diesel and sharp chemical zest. The exhale settles into lingering earthy pine and pungent skunk, closing on a sweet-sour candy and bubblegum aftertaste that softens the chem bite.

There are no first-hand effect reports for this plant, because it never left the breeders' gardens. Reading forward from its parents and its children, the Chem's Sister side would open with cerebral stimulation, tingling ocular pressure, sensory clarity and an immediate mood lift, while the Sour Dubb side — which breeds more Afghan than Sour Diesel — would arrive 20 to 45 minutes in as deep physical ease through the shoulders, neck and spine. The commonly reported downsides of this family apply: dry mouth, dry red eyes, and dizziness or anxiety in low-tolerance users at high doses of Chem-family flower.

History & Origin

The chain of events is documented mainly by Alchimiaweb's biographical retrospective on Joesy Whales, High Times' GG4 strain profile and SeedFinder's Original Glue entry, which quotes Joesy Whales directly. In 2009, Joesy Whales — Don Peabody, an ex-crane operator who had returned to cultivation after two decades and joined the ICMag forums as 'Grizz' — obtained the genetics that started it. Per Alchimiaweb, forum veterans Greyskull and Zoolander agreed to share cuts and met him in a commercial parking lot in Barstow, California, handing over a verified Sour Dubb, the 2008 B.O.G. seedling selection, plus a cutting labeled Chem D that flowered out and was identified as Chem's Sister. He also acquired a Chocolate Diesel cut, Sour Diesel x Chocolate Trip, bred by Dutch Flowers. The cross-check research instead places the breeding in Nevada, which is unresolved. Running Sour Dubb and Chem's Sister side by side, the Chem's Sister cut threw late-flower staminate flowers and pollinated the Sour Dubb clone, producing just four seeds. Joesy and Lone Watty germinated two and kept one standout female, which Lone Watty said in a 2015 Adam Dunn Show interview they nicknamed 'Cha-ching'. That plant was then grown alongside Chocolate Diesel, Sour Dubb and Chem's Sister in a one-gallon stadium garden. An unexpected police presence in the neighborhood forced Joesy to tear the 80-plant garden down overnight and hide it at a friend's house; moving the canopy twice in a short span put enough thermal, mechanical and light stress on it that the Cha-ching plants hermied aggressively on return, throwing pollen across the stadium and heavily seeding the adjacent female Chocolate Diesel. Frustrated by a fully seeded crop, Joesy discarded the plants and gave the seeded flower away — but his cultivation partner Marlin, 'Mardogg', recognized the parentage and saved the seeds from the pollinated Chocolate Diesel. Roughly a year and a half later the two popped five or six of them. Phenotype #1 became Sister Glue, GG1, an indica-dominant pine-heavy keeper held by GG Strains. Phenotype #2 was gifted to a grower in Michigan and lost. A low-yielding runt resembling Sour Dubb was discarded. Phenotype #4 was Gorilla Glue #4, Original Glue, whose trichome density famously glued trimming scissors shut. The intermediate plant itself was never stabilized, named commercially or distributed, and it won nothing; its offspring did, with GG4 taking 1st Place Hybrid at the 2014 High Times Los Angeles Cannabis Cup, 1st Place at the 2014 High Times Michigan Cannabis Cup and 1st Place at the 2015 High Times Jamaican World Cup.
