Sin Mintz
Also known as: SinMintZ, SinMintz, Sinmintz, Sin Mintz
Breeder: Sin City SeedsSin City Seeds →
Sin Mintz is Sin City Seeds' cross of Zkittlez and their own SinMint Cookies, an indica-leaning hybrid released as regular seeds with remarkably little public documentation behind it — no lab panel, no grow diaries on SeedFinder, and a release date the breeder never published. Its significance to growers today is mostly downstream: a vigorous male selected out of this line by Ronin Seeds and West Coast Connoisseurs was the Sin Mintz side of Toad Venom (Sin Mintz x Animal Face), from which Green Dragon selected the keeper that became one of the most chased cuts of the mid-2020s. The one detailed first-hand account of Sin Mintz itself, a 2021 review of a phenotype selected in Tenerife, describes extremely dense, heavily frosted nugs carrying sweet Zkittlez grapefruit and candy over a cookie-and-light-gas base. Potency is unsettled: the only lot-specific figure on record is 14.7% THC, from a Subdued Excitement batch reviewed by Northwest Leaf in 2021, while StrainCompass lists 20.6 to 24.1% THC without naming a source lot. SeedFinder and THCFarmer render the Zkittlez parent by its post-2023 trademark name, The Original Z, and StrainWeaver names Grape Maple Mintz and Purple Lemon Cheese Cake as descendants, which is unverified.

Lineage & Genetics
Cross: Zkittlez x SinMint Cookies
SinMint Cookies is Sin City Seeds' own in-house line, a Forum Cut GSC (the Thin Mint phenotype) crossed to their Blue Power — Sin City announced the project on THCFarmer in those words. Its breeder listing gives 60 to 65 days of flowering, a 60/40 indica split, 200 to 400 grams per square meter (Leafly says 300 to 500), and a flavor described as cookie dough with mint and kush overtones; Leafly's certified-lab data puts caryophyllene first, then limonene, then humulene, with mint, menthol and nutty as top flavors. Sin City's owner has written that it was a High Times Top Ten Strain of the Year in 2014, but that claim appears only in the breeder's own retailer blog post, so it is breeder-claimed rather than independently verified. The same line is a parent of Seed Junky's Animal Mints and so feeds into the Kush Mints wave and Animal Face — which is what makes Toad Venom a partial line-cross. On the Sin Mintz side, SinMint Cookies plausibly supplies the cookie-dough and gassy kush base: the Tenerife review notes a slightly gassy, cake-like undertone and the Washington grower Subdued Excitement describes a classic cookies taste. The Zkittlez used is the 3rd Gen Family / Terp Hogz cut, Grape Ape x Grapefruit x an undisclosed third strain, renamed The Original Z in 2023 as part of a trademark settlement; it took 1st place at the 2016 Emerald Cup along with Cannabis Cup placings in San Francisco and Michigan, and Leafly's lab data puts caryophyllene first, then linalool, then humulene, with grapefruit, grape and berry as top flavors over medium-sized, spongy green colas at eight to ten weeks. Zkittlez plausibly supplies the candy, grapefruit and tropical-fruit top notes — the Tenerife reviewer called the plant really Zkittlez-dominant with the zingy sweet grapefruit typical of the Z, and Subdued Excitement describes a sweet Zkittlez finish. All of these are parent-derived expectations: none is a verified Sin Mintz trait unless it was independently observed in Sin Mintz itself, and no purple color, bud structure or terpene is inferred here from a parent name.
Lineage Dispute
Several separate disputes sit on top of this cultivar, and none of them is fully settled. (1) Who bred it: California Leaf / Leaf Magazine states that Ronin Seeds made the cross of Sin City Seeds' foundational Sin Mint Cookies and Zkittlez and dubbed the result Sin Mintz. Every breeder-level source contradicts that — Sin City Seeds sells SinMintz on its own shop with the lineage Zkittlez x SinMint Cookies, SeedFinder and PhenoDB both file it under Sin City Seeds (PhenoDB naming the Sin City shop as its breeder source), independent seed banks sell it as a Sin City pack, a licensed Washington producer who grew it credits Sin City Seeds, and a 2021 review names Sin City Seeds as the original breeder. Ronin's own account, as relayed by NuggNotes citing Jake, describes Ronin selecting a male out of the existing Sin City line rather than making the cross. This page treats Sin City Seeds as the breeder and Ronin Seeds / West Coast Connoisseurs as the selectors who used a Sin Mintz male for Toad Venom. (2) Mother or father in Toad Venom: NuggNotes says the Sin Mintz contribution was a male pollinator, which would make it the father, and Vice repeats the male wording — but Vice cites NuggNotes, so the two are not independent. The male account is the best-documented version, not settled fact, and working metadata that calls Sin Mintz the mother of Toad Venom is unsupported. (3) Conflation with SinMint Cookies: Leafly's SinMint Cookies page lists the aliases SMC and Sin Mint, and AllBud calls SinMint Cookies simply Sinmint, which has led some sites to apply the Sinmintz name to SinMint Cookies itself — leafly.cc (The Leaf Index, unaffiliated with Leafly) and JointCommerce both state that Sinmintz is a phenotype of SinMint Cookies with Forum Cut GSC x Blue Power genetics. That conflicts with the breeder, which sells SinMintz and SinMint Cookies as separate products with different lineages, and no data from those pages is used here. (4) Wrong-parent listings: one strain site gives Sin Mintz as Animal Cookies x SinMintz Cookies inside its Toad Venom entry, but Animal Cookies x SinMint Cookies is Seed Junky's Animal Mints, a different strain. Newsweed writes Sin Mintz (or Sin Mint Cookies) but then gives the correct Sin Mint Cookies x Zkittlez cross from Sin City. (5) An unrelated product shares the name: Canadian licensed producer BAKED sold a Sin Mintz described by a reviewer as Animal Cookies x Kush Mintz, also branded Glade Runner. It is not this cultivar and is disregarded. (6) SeedFinder breeder mix-up on the offspring: SeedFinder files Ronin Seeds' Toad Venom under Ronin Garden, a different breeder whose catalogue is small-batch autoflower work such as Chikara and Auto Erotic Assimilation. The Sin Mintz entry itself is correctly filed under Sin City Seeds; the mix-up affects only the Toad Venom entry. (7) Seed type: the breeder shop, Terpy Seeds (titled SINMINTZ (REGS)) and Heritage Seed Bank all list regular seeds in 7 or 15 packs, and SeedFinder states it is or was never available as feminized. PhenoDB's Seed Type field says Feminized; three sources contradict it, so regular is treated as correct and a feminized re-release is unverified. (8) Smaller open points: parent order is unverified — the breeder writes Zkittlez x SinMint Cookies, which by convention would make Zkittlez the female, but Sin City has never said so explicitly; SeedFinder renders the cross as The Original Z x SinMint Cookies, The Original Z being the post-2023 trade name for Zkittlez; and PhenoDB's 72% indica / 28% sativa split conflicts with the breeder's own 60/40 figure, which takes precedence.
Terpene Profile
Limonene — Listed first by the Washington licensed producer Subdued Excitement, the only source to publish a strain-specific terpene list for Sin Mintz. Single-source and unverified — no lab panel or COA for this cultivar was located, so the ordering is a grower's claim rather than measured data. It is consistent with the sweet grapefruit and citrus-candy top note both first-hand reviewers describe.
Caryophyllene — Also named by Subdued Excitement, and the value used on the card when a single dominant terpene is required — but flagged as unverified, since the grower listed limonene first and no Sin Mintz lab panel exists. The supporting context is parent-derived: caryophyllene is the lab-dominant terpene of both Zkittlez and SinMint Cookies in Leafly's certified-lab data, which makes it the most defensible pick without being direct evidence.
Linalool — The third terpene in Subdued Excitement's list, again single-source and unverified with no percentages attached. Parent-derived support only: linalool is second in Leafly's lab ordering for Zkittlez, which is consistent but is not an observation of Sin Mintz.
Myrcene — Named by Cannapedia and listed by StrainCompass, but neither is evidence. StrainCompass explicitly labels its list as typical terpenes for hybrid strains and states that no strain-specific terpene data has been published for this cultivar. Treat myrcene here as an unverified placeholder, not a measured or observed trait.
Humulene — Not reported for Sin Mintz by any source. Included only as a parent-derived expectation: humulene is third in Leafly's certified-lab ordering for both Zkittlez and SinMint Cookies, so it would be unsurprising in the offspring. Entirely inferred and unverified.
Aroma: Two independent first-hand sources agree on the shape of the nose, and neither of them mentions mint despite the name. The 2021 review of The Italian Artisan's Tenerife phenotype scored smell 9/10 and called it really Zkittlez-dominant — a zingy, sweet grapefruit aroma mixed with slightly gassy terps, comparable to a Blue Zushi or a similar Californian Zkittlez cross. Subdued Excitement, the Washington producer who grew and sold it, frames the same profile from the other side, leading with classic cookies and finishing sweet and Zkittlez-like. How much actual mint expresses in Sin Mintz is unverified: no strain-specific source reports it. On intensity, the only anecdote in the record comes from NuggNotes relaying Jake's story of carrying about four grams of flower from standout plants of this line out of Battleground, Washington during the COVID era — the smell reportedly escaped the overhead bin strongly enough that a flight attendant threatened to ground the plane. That is a story told by an interested party, not a measurement.
Flavor: The Tenerife phenotype scored taste 10/10 and was described as super clean and sweet, with really fruity Z terps carrying an ever-so-slight gassy, cake-like undertone. Subdued Excitement describes the same pairing in the opposite order: a classic cookies taste with a sweet Zkittlez finish. Across both sources the consistent read is sweet Zkittlez candy and grapefruit riding over a cookie, cake or light-gas base. Both accounts are single-grower descriptions of individual phenotypes from a regular-seed population, so flavor expression across a pack is undocumented, and the degree of mint — the part the name would imply — is unverified.
Effects & Experience
Onset: Undocumented. No source describes onset speed or the arc of the first few minutes for Sin Mintz, and no COA or lab potency data exists to anchor an expectation.
One published report exists. The 2021 Tenerife review scored effects 8/10 and described it as for sure not an absolute knockout tackle but very high in THC — a nice all-round relaxing high that did not cloud the mind much or bring lazy side effects. That is a single grower's account of a single phenotype and should be read as such. StrainCompass lists 20.6 to 24.1% THC and 0.6% CBD, but it names no underlying lab or COA, so those numbers are unverified. Claims elsewhere that the Sin Mintz side makes Toad Venom paralytic describe Toad Venom, not this plant, and are not carried over here.
Duration: Undocumented. No source gives a duration for Sin Mintz.
Commonly Reported Uses
Grower's Notes
Sin Mintz is thinly documented but not undocumented: the breeder's pack figures now sit alongside one indoor journal, a brief clone run and two reviews of finished flower. Together they describe an easy, compact, slow-starting indica-leaning plant. Packs are regular seeds, so plan for a male cull and phenotype spread.
Growth Structure and Training
In the best-documented run, FijiS's GrowDiaries journal, one SinMintZ shared an LED tent with three other cultivars. By flower week two it was observed short, bushy, lush and compact. It grew slower than its tentmates and gave up canopy space to them, needing a riser to reach the light, and its stretch started late and stayed modest. The grower called it very easy and a likely sea-of-green candidate. Kayotic ran a clone of unstated origin for thirteen weeks and rated difficulty normal.
Flowering Time and Harvest
The breeder claims 56 to 63 days. The one observed run is broadly consistent: the plant faded at the end of flower week seven, and the grower planned to chop late in week nine after 48 hours of darkness. No outdoor harvest date is published. Parent-derived expectation only: Sin City lists SinMint Cookies at 60 to 65 days.
Yield
The only figure on record is the breeder's claim of 400 to 600 grams per square meter indoors. No grower dry weight tests it, and outdoor yield is undocumented. Parent-derived expectation only: SinMint Cookies is listed by its breeder at 200 to 400 grams per square meter, below the Sin Mintz pack claim.
Nutrient Management
The observed run was organic. The grower amended with worm castings, compost, seabird guano, langbeinite and kelp, watered with compost tea and molasses, ran a tent-wide partial flush in week five and added a bottled bloom booster from week seven. The salt build-up behind that flush showed on a neighbouring cultivar, not the Sin Mintz. No strain-specific deficiency or burn is reported.
Growing Media
The only documented medium is five-gallon FoxFarm Happy Frog, amended as above. No source names a preferred substrate or container size.
Environment and Climate
The observed tent held about 23°C by day and 20 to 21°C at night at 53 to 60 percent relative humidity, a vapour pressure deficit of 1.3 to 1.4 kPa. Every documented grow was indoors, though breeder databases list indoor or outdoor and one reviewed phenotype finished in Tenerife. Parent-derived expectation only: Zkittlez guides demand firm late-flower humidity control and disagree on its mould resistance, so treat botrytis as a real risk on dense phenotypes.
Lighting
The observed run was under LED at 1,000 to 1,250 PAR, with the Sin Mintz sitting below its tentmates until the grower raised its pot. No spectrum or photoperiod data exists.
Pest and Disease Resistance
The only pest logged in the observed run was fruit flies, handled with yellow sticky traps, and the clone grower rated resistance strong. Neither report covers mould, mildew or hermaphrodite tendency.
Bud Structure and Trichomes
Two reviews of finished flower agree on frost and differ on density. Northwest Leaf called Subdued Excitement's Washington SinMintz intensely frosty, lightly sticky and of medium density. The Highest Critic, reviewing a Tenerife selection, found extremely dense rounded nuggets under thick trichome cover, and clean white ash.
Color Development
Both reviews report purple: the Washington flower plainly purple, the Tenerife selection green and purple beneath heavy frost. No source documents the night temperatures or timing behind it.
Drying and Curing
The clone grower hung plants whole, trimmed them dry and jarred them, the only cultivar-specific account. Subdued Excitement cures by density and stores at 60 to 65°F, but calls that a brand-wide practice. No hang time or cure length is published.
Wash and Extraction
No wash yield, rosin return or hash-maker report exists. The heavy trichome coverage both reviewers describe is a visual observation, not a measured return.
History & Origin
Sin City Seeds was founded in Las Vegas in 2010, with owner and head breeder known as Don. Its Blue Power line underpins SinMint Cookies, which Sin City announced on THCFarmer as a project crossing the Forum Cut GSC (aka Thin Mint) to their Blue Power. Sin Mintz — the Zkittlez cross of that line — has no public release date; Sin City never dated it. What can be pinned down is that it existed by late 2020, because NuggNotes reports that seeds from Animal Face crossed to a selected Sinmintz male had been produced by then, and it was grown and reviewed as finished flower in Tenerife by July 2021. Its route into the modern hype cycle runs through Toad Venom. Per NuggNotes, citing Jake (co-owner of Ronin Seeds, then associated with West Coast Connoisseurs), standout phenotypes of this line grown in Battleground, Washington convinced him the genetics were special; 805 Has Fire worked the males while Ronin Seeds and Cannapy Builders supplied females, and one male that survived being snapped in half during a move became the Sinmint F1 male. Animal Face crossed to that male was in seed by late 2020, and the seeds went out to hunters the following year. NuggNotes adds that Ronin was never built as a traditional retail seed company — its purpose was to supply selected genetics to cultivation partners. Green Dragon (North Hollywood, with the hunt also placed at its Cathedral City facility) popped about 30 Sin Mintz x Animal Face seeds and kept one plant, named Becky. The date of that hunt is genuinely in conflict: GreenState, Newsweed and NuggNotes all place it in 2021, while Leaf Magazine says 2022, and nothing in the record resolves it. The cut reached Ronin's Oklahoma grow and was renamed Toad Venom, a name that came out of the question what is a sinful animal; Green Dragon says the cut left its facility without authorization. Everything after that concerns Toad Venom rather than Sin Mintz itself: frog-head packaging at Spannabis 2024; Jake's account of deliberately releasing fake cuts, including one he says was Detroit Runtz, during an Oklahoma business dispute; the Mango After Hours episode The Truth About Toad Venom featuring Ronin Seeds and Green Dragon, dated February 13, 2026 by GreenState and listed as February 23, 2026 on Listen Notes; GreenState calling it 2026's hottest strain; competing clone drops in May 2026, with Ronin releasing 200 clones on May 10 at Goat Global and Green Dragon releasing several hundred on May 17; and High Times naming it a June 2026 Strain of the Month, describing it as Sin Mintz x Animal Face — that is, Sin Mint Cookies x Z with extra gas. Sin Mintz's own market footprint stayed small by comparison: regular seed packs of 7 or 15 from the Sin City shop and from independent banks such as Heritage Seed Bank and Terpy Seeds, one licensed Washington producer (Subdued Excitement, an I-502 producer-processor in Ferndale/Bellingham) selling it as flower, and one reviewed European phenotype grown by The Italian Artisan in Tenerife.
