Tropicana Cookies (GSC x Tangie, Oni Seed Co.) is a sativa-dominant hybrid and the company's flagship creation, known for intense orange citrus aroma dominated by limonene, stunning purple and orange coloration, and energizing creative effects. It contributes sharp citrus top notes, resin-rich sandy trichome quality, and purple coloration genes. Purple Punch (Larry OG x Granddaddy Purple, Symbiotic Genetics) is an indica-dominant hybrid famous for grape candy and tart Kool-Aid aromas, contributing sweet dark berry terpenes, stockier growth habit, dense bud structure, deep purple pigmentation, and fast flowering.

Terpene Profile

Aroma: Red fruit punch concentrate, sharp orange citrus, candy grape, sweet berries, and a doughy/nutty undertone. The terpene ensemble creates a remarkably faithful tropical fruit punch scent.

Flavor: Tart and sweet with orange, passionfruit, cherry-berry, and a rich nutty exhale. Some phenotypes express more blue sports drink/Kool-Aid while others lean toward concentrated orange juice. Leaves users smacking their lips.

A one-two punch — initially mentally stimulating then physically calming. A tingly sensation begins at the back of the head and works throughout the body, transitioning into soothing physical relaxation. Good for socializing early in the session, transitioning to couch-lock. Later stages bring sedation and potential sleepiness.

Growing Characteristics

Grow Tips: This strain is a fast finisher that can be pulled at day 56 for fresh-frozen extraction, with optimal flower at day 60-63 for most phenotypes. Push to day 63+ for more amber trichome development and enhanced sedative effects. Nitrogen sensitivity is the most common pitfall — over-fertilization with nitrogen in early bloom leads to excessive leaf-to-calyx ratios, stretched/airy buds, and muted terpene expression. Reduce nitrogen by ~30% at transition and flip to bloom-dominant ratio (approximately 1:3:2 N:P:K) by weeks 3-6. A PK boost at weeks 4-6 (half dose, 2 weeks) aids resin production. Keep root zone slightly dry between waterings to encourage deeper root penetration. The plant is described as resilient — can be pushed quite hard but will be the last in the tent to get a deficiency. LST is strongly recommended — tie main stem outward and work lower branches up for an even canopy. Responds well to topping, super-cropping, and SCROG. Defoliation schedule: light defoliation just before flip, then top-down at week 1 and week 3 of flower — but avoid aggressive late-flower stripping after week 4 as this can stall bud development. Night temperature drops of 10-15°F in late bloom trigger spectacular deep purple pigmentation via anthocyanin expression. Excellent for both solvent and solventless extraction — large greasy capitate-stalked trichome heads break off easily during washing. Process ice water hash at 34-38°F water temperature. Press rosin below 205°F for vivid fruit syrup aroma. Use a dry-sift trim tray as giant trichome heads split from the stalk easily — minimize handling to preserve trichome integrity. Slow dry at 60°F and 60% RH for 14 days, then cure minimum 3 weeks in airtight jars (4-6 weeks further develops fruit punch complexity). Phenotype variation: purple-dominant phenos show deep purple onset almost immediately after flip with heavier indica effect and stronger grape/berry terpenes; citrus-leaning phenos remain predominantly lime green with brighter orange/citrus terpenes and slightly more energetic effect. Authentic Oni Seed Co packs are extinct — work with verified cuts or reputable S1/Bx1 lines.

History & Origin

Created circa 2016-2018 when Oni Seed Co crossed their flagship Tropicana Cookies F2 with Purple Punch. Released in limited quantities as regular seeds in 12-packs — one of the shortest production runs of all Oni crosses. Most sealed packs were popped during the initial hype, with very few sealed 12-packs remaining. In 2022, Praetorian announced an agreement to acquire Oni Seed Co. The original parent stock is no longer in circulation and the cross is considered a discontinued lineage. Sealed packs command $500+ on the collector market.
