White Widow (prize-winning 90s clone) contributes exceptional trichome saturation, compact floral structure, and the frosty resin coverage that defines the entire 'White' strain family.

Terpene Profile

Aroma: Pungent and strong throughout growth and flowering. Sweet citrus top notes over earthy spice, skunky pine resin, and a sharp peppery bite. The jar nose is intensely skunky-sweet with fruity undertones inherited from AK-47.

Flavor: Sharp citrus on inhale with peppery earth and herbal pine. The exhale delivers creamy skunk and lingering pine-resin finish. Classic old-school Dutch hybrid character: bright, spicy, and resinous.

Effects & Experience

Onset: Fast-acting cerebral rush within minutes; described as a 'one hit wonder' where a single puff delivers immediate intensity.

Primarily cerebral and euphoric rather than sedating or body-heavy. Strong mental lift with creative stimulation that gradually settles into calm physical relaxation. More head-high than knockout.

Duration: Long-lasting. Multiple sources and the breeder describe the high as notably persistent compared to typical hybrids.

Growing Characteristics

Grow Tips: Plants develop into 'not too leafy' consistent structures — minimal defoliation needed compared to other indicas. Crystals start appearing after ~5 weeks of flowering; resin ramps dramatically in final 2–3 weeks. Responds well to topping and LST for canopy leveling and improved light penetration. Maintain pH 6.2–6.8 and EC up to 2.0. Boost P/K in week 6 (PK 13+14 recommended by breeder's grow report). Keep humidity ≤60% during flower to protect dense colas from mold. Strong odor throughout growth and flower — carbon filtration recommended from mid-veg onward. Harvest when trichomes show milky-white with some amber for optimal cerebral/potency balance. Won 2nd Prize Extracts at Highlife Cup 2013 with ice-o-lator hash — exceptional resin producer suited for bubble hash and solventless extraction.

History & Origin

Developed by Simon (founder of Serious Seeds) in the mid-1990s in the Netherlands. Released in 1996 and immediately entered at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, where it won both the Overall Cannabis Cup and the Bio Cup for coffeeshop De Dampkring on its first entry. The following year it took 2nd place in the Hydro Cup, again entered by De Dampkring. In a UK independent seed comparison of 150+ strains, White Russian tested as the strongest at 22% THC. Serious Seeds was founded in 1995 after Simon's earlier collaboration with American breeders produced AK-47 and Chronic (both Cup winners in 1994). White Russian became the flagship that cemented the seed bank's legacy.
